Criminal Law - San Angelo, Texas

When someone is accused of a crime, he needs help. He needs a lawyer who knows the law, who knows criminal procedure and is ready and willing to help.

Texas law separates various criminal offenses into different categories. Lower grade crimes are called Misdemeanors. They are prosecuted in many Texas counties in the County Court. Those offenses can be punished by confinement in a county jail and a fine.

More serious offenses are classified as either State Jail Felonies or Felonies of the First, Second or Third Degree. Conviction of those offenses can result in confinement in a State Jail Facility for as much as two years, or in a Texas prison unit for a term of two years to ninety-nine years or life in prison.

Some crimes, such as sex offenses, carry special consequences that can have long-lasting effects on the person convicted of the offense. These can include sex offender registration, as well as special conditions of probation that apply to one who is placed on probation.

At Ratilff and Edwards, we work hard to see that the law is followed and applied fairly when our clients are charged with a crime.
